The Gold Coast, Australia, wins 2018 Commonwealth Games bid
Topic: New Data

The Queensland city of the Gold Coast has won the bid for the XXI Commonwealth Games in 2018. At the time of the announcement (last Saturday just after 8am local time), the MC was conjunct the city's Ascendant, indicating that the city's 'personality' met all expectations. Meanwhile, Pluto was conjunct the Ascendant and conjunct Saturn in the city's chart, indicating success through a hard sell on the part of the city's authorities. See the Gold Coast's data and chart here.

Marc-André Raffalovich: A Poet with a Neptune Boomerang
Topic: New Data

Marc-André Raffalovich (1864–1934) was a wealthy French poet and writer on homosexuality, best known today for his patronage of the arts and for his lifelong relationship with the English poet, John Gray.

Raffalovich had a Yod involving a sextile between Eris-Chiron and Pluto, with all these planets quincunxing Mercury in the poetical 12th house. The poet planet, Neptune, opposes literary Mercury, making a boomerang.

Raffalovich switched from writing poetry in his youth to writing on the topic of homosexuality, becoming an expert in the field by his mid 30s. The Sabian Symbol for his Mercury is "A professor peering over his glasses."

His life partner, John Gray, was probably the inspiration behind Oscar Wilde's fictional Dorian Gray, a handsome and narcissistic young man who strays into debauchery. A planet in one's 7th house can suggest a lot about one's type of partner, or the archetype/model that one's partner tends to project.  Raffalovich has debauched Pluto Rx on the South Node both in beautiful Taurus in the 7th house of relationships, mirrors and narcissism.

Deni Hines: Saturn Rising, R&B Singer
Topic: Aussie Stars

Australian R&B singer, Deni Hines, was recently sacked by Mark Bouris on TV series, The Celebrity Apprentice. Hines declared, "I love being my own boss and I don't think I could work under anybody." No surprise then, that she has bossy Saturn on her Ascendant. Hines is a tough customer, not to mention pushy Mars on her IC and South Node. An exact Mercury-Pluto conjunction in Virgo can make for a certain brashness of speech, particularly when ruled by Chiron in in-your-face Aries. See her chart and data here. Mystery man, Julian Assange, has Neptune on his natal Ascendant
Topic: Aussie Stars

In Julian Assange's Unauthorised Biography, the journalist, publisher and internet activist is quoted for his birth time (see his data & chart here). He has Neptune, the planet of mystery, in Sagittarius right on his Sagittarius Ascendant, ruled by and conjunct Jupiter in icy Scorpio (giving him his white-haired and rather cool appearance). All this Jupiter/Neptune/Sagittarius/12th house energy has manifested in his mission to publish news leaks for the stated purpose of creating open governments (his Pluto is in the 10th house of government). Meanwhile, the Cardinal T-Square to his Cancerian Sun in the 8th house explains his issues with women, particularly because his Sun is ruled by the Moon in Scorpio in the 12th.

kd lang turns 50
Topic: Queer Stars
kd lang turns 50 today. With Uranus in the first degree of Virgo conjunct her Moon, ruler of her 11th house, she seems pretty cluey about her natal chart, having recently said, "I'm pretty tidy because I'm half-Virgo and half-Scorpio ... I definitely like to keep the house pretty calm, pretty still, pretty organised." (Sunday Mail, 30 Oct. 2011, U on Sunday, p. 29).

Christos Tsiolkas: The Double Scorpio's "Slap"
Topic: Aussie Stars
The TV series, The Slap, adapted from Australian author Christos Tsiolkas's prize-winning novel of the same name, is currently screening on ABC1 and BBC Four. In Tsiolkas's chart, the Sun and Moon are widely conjunct on his Descendant. The Slap follows the aftermath of a man slapping a child at a suburban Australian barbecue. In typical Scorpio fashion, the book/series explores the issue of violence, particularly the different reactions of various adults at the barbecue toward the unfortunate incident. The TV series began screening on 6 October 2011 in Australia with transiting Mars at 10 Leo conjunct Tsiolkas's IC, quincunx his natal Saturn at 10 Pisces and square his natal Moon at 11 Scorpio in the 7th.

Claude Cahun, 1894-1954 (new data, birth certificate, chart)
Topic: New Data
Claude Cahun was a remarkable and enigmatic French artist, photographer and writer. As written on her birth certificate she was born Lucy Renée Mathilde Schwob in Nantes. In her 20s she chose the sexually ambiguous name, Claude Cahun, and she settled in Paris with her stepsister Suzanne Malherbe (aka Marcel Moore)who would become her life-long partner.  Cahun's photography incorporated the visual aesthetics of surrealism.  She is particularly known for her androgynous self-portraits in which she plays with gender and sexuality, sometimes appearing bald or with short-cropped hair.

Cahun had the last degree of Virgo on her Ascendant conjunct and ruled by Chiron in Libra and as such she was a pin-up of the androgynous Chiron archetype. See her chart, data, links and biography here.

Hi Everyone,

And Welcome. The first chart to be posted here is the inaugural one for this blog:  Jupiter in Taurus is rising ruled by Venus in Scorpio in the 7th. Mercury is conjunct Venus both ruled by Pluto in Capricorn in the 8th: I will be bringing you plenty of my original research data. Aquarius on the MC is ruled by Uranus in Aries on the PoF in the 11th. They are ruled by Mars on the IC in the 4th House of collections. The Sabian Symbol for the PoF is "A Crystal Gazer." I hope to bring you some insight into the charts, along with the new data.

My natal Sun is conjunct the Ascendant of this chart; my Moon is on the MC and the Sun at 5 Scorpio forms a Grand Sextile or Star of David in my chart!
